A Need for Expansion
Lincoln Community Center (LCC) has an
exceptional over 154-year Legacy “of educating,
informing and uplifting” thousands of adults and
youth in the Troy community. For all those
years, LCC has provided a “safe-haven” and been
a “true community center” for all.
Through the
years the number of programs has multiplied and
attendance has increased, but our building has
not. As a result, the current building is
bursting at the seams. LCC currently offers 58
programs and events in which over 65,000 youth
and adults have participated. Lack of program
and workspace, lack of ADA/ handicap accessible
facilities and lack of parking have become major
issues which prevent participation and access at
Lincoln Community Center.
Through the ‘This is Legacy!’ fundraising
campaign, we are asking the community to support
an expansion project that will provide the space
and facilities necessary for us to continue to
meet the needs of the Troy area community today
and into the future.
The result of
a thorough 3-year planning process is the
proposed construction of new additional space
for LCC which would add workspace with ADA
compliance and additional parking.
Shown below are the architectural renderings of
the proposed expansion which will add 21,803
square feet to the existing building. The
addition will include a high school regulation
gymnasium, lobby/ reception area, program and
activities rooms, exercise area with locker
rooms and showers, storage space, staff offices,
work spaces, and a kitchen and concession area.
The space in the present historical building
will be refreshed and continue to be used as
well. The projected cost is $3.8 million.
Lincoln
Community Center is reaching out to foundations,
business and industry partners, community
leaders, individuals, and families to keep the
Legacy of Lincoln Community Center moving
forward!
